A few words from our tutor on what you can expect from this course

Course Description

• Managing Incidents • Open Disclosure • Professional Responsibilities • When Things Go Wrong – What Happens Next?

Since the Patient Safety Act 2023 came into force, healthcare professionals and organisations have had to navigate a greater focus on openness, mandatory notification, documentation, professional responsibilities and learning from patient safety incidents. The challenge is about how the legislation works in real healthcare situations, particularly when incidents are complex, facts are unclear, patients and families are distressed, and healthcare professionals are unsure what they should do next. This one-day course will move beyond simply outlining the legislation, to look at real-life scenarios, professional perspectives, discussion and challenging case studies. Participants will explore the situations healthcare professionals can encounter when something goes wrong and consider how they should respond, communicate, document and report to learn from each case.

All attendees will receive a full course pack to refer to and will have the benefit of learning from a trainer with a wealth of experience in this area.
