Course Description

Building Information Modelling (BIM) and related 3D design software has increasingly become a crucial tool in the construction, engineering and other infrastructure industries and will only continue to grow as technology develops. This one-day intensive course will introduce you to the fundamentals of Navisworks and equip you with the knowledge to integrate the models. The course will demonstrate how the programme can be used to assist Clients and Contracting Authorities better understand and assess project models. This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises to ensure participants gain hands-on experience with the software.

You will get an opportunity to follow along with the tutor, through interactive sessions and troubleshooting while using Navisworks. You will also be able to engage in an informative Q & A with our course tutor, as well as other professionals in your field. You will receive highly informative course notes, which you can refer back to at any time.

Course Content

Introduction

  • Understanding the role of Navisworks in combining/federating 3D models
  • Benefits of using Navisworks

Getting Started

  • Importing and exporting various file formats
  • Federate, navigate and interact with Navisworks dashboards and interface
  • Selection tools
  • Basic model review - viewpoints, red lining, measure, links, etc.

Clash Detection

  • How to identify design problems and potential construction issues
  • Understand different types of clashes
  • Running clash detection
  • Grouping clashes
  • Clash workshops and reports
  • Open models from various 3D design formats and combine them
  • Review the final model/check against set of standards

Scheduling and Project Management

  • Using the TimeLiner function effectively
  • Integrating other scheduling software - Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 and CSV
  • 4D Simulation
  • Visualisation and animation
  • Conflict and risk management
  • Review and analyse the simulation

Exploring Navisworks

  • Assess various other functions
  • Viewpoint creation, sectioning, animation, Take off
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 19650 international standards
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Plug Ins for Navisworks

Pre-Requisites

Familiarity with 3D authoring software will be helpful, though not required; however, course attendees will have to have access to Navisworks software. Navisworks Freedom is the free viewer version of the product and is available to download from Autodesk EU.

Who Should Attend

This course will be of benefit to contracting authorities or anyone wishing to increase productivity on construction or engineering projects.

Certification

On completion of this one-day training course, you will receive your Certificate of Attendance. Please note certificates are issued at the close of the training course to participants on completion of the course.

This course may qualify for CPD points. Please check directly with your association or awarding body to see how many points they will award.

Cost

An ‘Early Bird’ discounted rate of €485 is currently available. This training course normal rate is €585. Places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.
