From contract formation to administration and dispute resolution, this course will give a comprehensive overview and in-depth analysis of JCT Contracts, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to tackle the complexities of construction contracts in a clear, informed, and legally compliant manner.
Session 1 – Structure of the Contract and Key Mechanisms
· Review of how the JCT DB Contract is put together i.e. Recitals, Articles, Particulars,Employer’s Requirements etc.
· Understanding all the key documents
· Review of notification and communication requirements
· Understanding where the key risks lie, and how they are normally amended.
· Review of Supplemental Provisions
Session 2 – Operational
· Understanding the key obligations with respect to:
o Carrying out the work
o Design
o Materials,goods and workmanship
· Sub-contracting
· Dealing with errors, discrepancies, and divergences
· Dealing with defects
Session 3 – Commercial
· Understanding how work is valued.
· Understanding the payment terms (with a short session on administering payment to sub-contractors)
· Dealing with Changes
· Notifying and evidencing claims for delay and extension of time
· Notifying and evidencing claims for loss and expense e.g. disruption, prolongation etc.
· Understanding the final account mechanism
This course has been designed for, Site Managers, Contracts Managers, Commercial Managers, Contractors,Surveyors, operations, legal advisors in both public and private sector organisations.
On completion of this one-day training course, you will receive your Certificate of Attendance.Please note certificates are issued at the close of the training course to participants on completion of the course.
