Course Description

It is central to the role of professionals required to attend court that they give a clear account of their conclusions and reasoning that enables an informed and independent judgment. Learning how to do this in a courtroom setting, where cross examination and scrutiny occurs, is a skill that requires training.

This course will give attendees the skills to understand what is required from them as a professional in a courtroom setting, how to relay it, how to distinguish between facts, inference, cross-examination techniques used by lawyers and opinion.

All attendees will get a chance to engage in an informative Q&A session and will receive ahighly informative course pack.

·        The Irish legal system – Legal phases explained

·        Civil Litigation and rules of evidence

·        What happens when I get there - court procedures and roles?

·        Preparation to give evidence. Effective Communication under pressure

·        Examination-in-chief and cross examination –understanding the differences.

·        Lawyers’ techniques and how to handle them.

·        Giving clear, honest, and objective testimony

·        Using supporting evidence, documents, and notes

Certification
