A few words from our tutor on what you can expect from this course

Course Description

Falls are the leading cause of serious injury in Ireland. This one day course aims to help you to understand the causes and key risk points. We will cover falls risk assessments, how to reduce the risk of falls, and how to manage a falling resident or patient. We will keep you updated on the legal responsibilities, and how to develop a falls prevention programme and a falls care plan.

This is a unique opportunity to improve your knowledge in this area, through an interactive day hosted by one of the leading experts in the field. The course trainer is an experienced Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist. She was involved in setting up the Irish Hip Fracture Database, which she co-manages, and has published on many topics including hip fractures, falls, fragility fracture nursing care, major trauma, and clinical audit. Louise has recently stepped down from a three-year term as the chair of the international Collaboration of Orthopaedic Nursing (ICON) and as the general secretary of the Global Fragility Fracture Network (FFN).
